Blue Max Racing is the stuff of NHRA legend. Under team owner Harry Schmidt, the Blue Max operation fielded some of the most fearsome machines on the quarter mile. Richard Tharp piloted the Top Fuel dragster from 1971 to 1973, laying the groundwork for a dynasty. Then came Raymond Beadle, who took the Funny Car to an unprecedented three consecutive NHRA World Championships in 1979, 1980, and 1981 — cementing Blue Max as one of the all-time great teams in the sport.
