A Legacy of Speed

The motorsports DNA runs deep in Troy Jr.'s veins. As the grandson of JEGS High-Performance founder and drag racing Hall of Famer Jeg Coughlin Sr. and son of three-time Pro Mod world champion Troy Coughlin Sr., Troy Jr. has been immersed in racing culture since birth.

His journey began at just 8 years old when he first experienced the thrill of the drag strip in the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League. From that moment in 1998, the quarter-mile became his sanctuary – the place where passion, precision, and pure adrenaline converge.

"My happiest memories have always been at the track—the sounds, the smells, the stories shared in the pit area," says Troy Jr. "There's simply no place on earth I'd rather be."

A Champion's Resume

Troy Jr.'s passion for racing is matched only by his talent behind the wheel. His impressive career includes:

  • Three-time champion with 17 national, regional, and divisional victories
  • Two-time East Region Champion in Top Alcohol Dragster (2018-2019)
  • Division III Champion in Super Gas (2013)
  • Winner of the prestigious U.S. Nationals twice (2010 in Super Comp, 2014 in Super Gas)
  • Currently competing in the NHRA Pro Stock category

His versatility as a driver is evident in his success across multiple racing classes – from his early Junior Dragster wins to Super Comp, Super Gas, Top Alcohol Dragster, and now Pro Stock competition. In 2015, he earned Pro Mod Rookie of the Year honors while racing alongside his father and was named to Drag Illustrated's "30 Under 30" list, recognizing the "brightest young people in drag racing."
