Honor the Legend. Wear the Legacy.
Before the dynasty, there was the man who started it all. The Captain is a faithful 1980 reprint tee paying tribute to Jeg Coughlin Sr. — patriarch, pioneer, and one of drag racing's true immortals. This isn't just a shirt. It's a piece of motorsports history you can wear on your back.
The Legend of Jeg Sr.
From a 1936 Ford five-window coupe on Ohio back roads to the winner's circle at NHRA national events, Jeg Coughlin Sr. built his legacy one burnout at a time. In 1960, he turned a small Columbus speed shop into what would become JEGS High Performance — one of the largest mail-order performance parts companies in the world, now employing more than 450 associates across 60+ years of business.
On the track, Jeg Sr. was a force across virtually every class he entered — Top Fuel, Top Alcohol Dragster, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and beyond. His career haul includes four NHRA North Central Division championships, 30 divisional wins, and an 11-race consecutive winning streak in Top Alcohol Dragster that remains the stuff of legend.
His impact extends far beyond trophies. Jeg Sr. earned induction into the Hot Rod Magazine Hall of Fame, the NHRA North Central Division Hall of Fame, and the Olentangy Business Hall of Fame. He was honored with Car Craft Magazine's prestigious Ollie Award and named Ernst & Young Master Entrepreneur of the Year — both in 2002. He and his family also founded the JEGS Foundation for Cancer Research, raising millions through their "Racing for Research" program.
The four sons — John, Troy, Mike, and Jeg Jr. — carry the torch today. But The Captain lit the flame.
