Kenny Bernstein “Chelsea King” 1979 Plymouth Arrow Funny Car 1:24 Diecast – 1 of 6,000 Action NHRA Collectible
Before the Budweiser King…
Before the championships…
There was a young racer building his reputation one pass at a time.
In the late 1970s, Kenny Bernstein was already proving he had the talent and determination to become one of drag racing’s future legends. Driving cars like the Chelsea King Plymouth Arrow Funny Car, Bernstein was beginning to make noise in the fiercely competitive Funny Car class.
These early years were critical in shaping Bernstein’s career. He quickly gained respect in the pits for his work ethic and competitive drive, traits that would eventually help him rise to the very top of the sport.
Bernstein’s career would go on to become historic. He became a six-time NHRA World Champion and one of the rare drivers to win championships in both Funny Car and Top Fuel. Later known as the “King of Speed,” he would also become the first driver in NHRA history to break the 300 mph barrier in 1992 with the Budweiser King Top Fuel dragster.
But every legend starts somewhere, and cars like the Chelsea King Plymouth Arrow Funny Car represent the early chapter of Bernstein’s remarkable journey.
This 1979 Kenny Bernstein “Chelsea King” Plymouth Arrow Funny Car 1:24 diecast, produced by Action / Lionel ARC in 1997 and limited to just 1 of 6000 produced, is a low-production collectible celebrating Bernstein’s early Funny Car years.
Pre-owned and in great condition, with the box showing a little age, this piece is a fantastic addition for collectors who appreciate the roots of one of drag racing’s greatest champions.
